Eventually a Moose (when I find the perfect picture)

Still working on this one! Added more trees!

Newest Addition

This background I feel is more condusive to a surrealistic picture of torment, don't you think?

Why Wait...

Here's one morbid goal...

My sister-in-law visited from California one winter and made the great canadian discovery............

Time is Flying!

Halloween was yesterday! This was my costume until my husband decided he didn't have enough hair to be Austin Powers so.......
............... I ended up being Angie Powers, Austin's sister instead.
Today I started back painting. I will try to keep it up between periods of typing my novel and yes, maybe even house cleaning. What happens when I get another job is yet to be seen but I hope to be able to keep moving towards my main goals of being a writer and painter. I hope very soon!

Time to get back to it!

I've been busy exploring different avenues of creativity in the last while. I've been writing and trying out more photography, and learning photoshop skills. I really want to get back to painting too, but I feel a draw for writing as well. I hope to be able to combine the two in the near future. I have to at least get the paintings done that I've started!
I'm home full time for the moment so now's the time!

Romance Break

I've slowed down in my painting but haven't stopped completely. I'm writing a romance novel. First attempt and I seem to be on roll. Can't seem to put it down! I guess I had better go with it! It is also giving me new ideas for paintings. My lighthouse painting I've started repainting into a night time picture with a full moon which is described in my novel. The heroine paints of course!

Image from novel in progress...romantic/suspense

I started the background for another painting on a 16" x 20" canvas in acrylic. This one has a lot left to do! I'm thinking it may need a moose in this one perhaps!
......November....I'm thinking something a little more disturbing, from my second novel now...maybe....it'll be a surprise!

This is a rough sketch of an idea that comes from my 2nd novel. I hope to integrate it into the painting. I'll make more spooky adjustments to the shed and scenery, but this is the basic idea.

...................Naaaa... changed my mind on this idea! The above background wouldn't be right. I'll have to start this one from scratch and go back to the idea of a moose in the above painting again....or something like that.

By the Sea

This one is acrylic on 16" x 20" canvas board.

This one has changed a great deal since this photo...............................

........I've gone from day to night. It goes with my first novel. It is still unfinished but is getting much closer! The water is not right...I've worked it out in a sketch so I'll be re-doing at least the surface of the waves.

Hope

This 8" x 10" acrylic on canvas board painting was inspired by a cold windy day. It depicts a glimmer of hope in the middle of chaos. A place many people have been before, I'm sure.

"Home Sweet Home" (incomplete)

This acrylic painting is the first one I've done since high school on actual canvas. I like the smoother surface! It is on a 16" x 20" canvas. I still need to complete the leaves and flowers and I'm planning on adding a bird or two, or maybe some bugs or butterflies. I guess I'll see when I get to that stage!
OK, back to work!

At Camp

This is acrylic on a 10" x 14" canvas board.
I've finished another project! I feel this is a fairly accurate picture of a camp scene. I traded my model's beer for a coffee! I told him it probably has Baileys in it and he seemed pretty satisfied.
Now back to work on my other new project.
This is a Sherry original.

At the Watering Hole

This picture started out like one of Jerry Yarnell's show in the background but then I missed all the other shows. His picture had turkeys in it and I couldn't find any pictures of turkeys I could use so I used a photo of a rabbit I took.
This is acrylic on an 8" x 10" canvas panel.

Flower Arrangement

This was another picture from the Jerry Yarnell tv show. I used his painting style for the background, but using my own colour scheme. I used the wood table but also in my own favourite colours. The light source was the same as his but I changed the style and colour of the vase, and used the flowers that I preferred.
This was done in acrylic on an 8" x 10" canvas panel.

Heading Home

This is an imaginary place. I liked doing the reflections so much in the last painting that I thought I do a picture with even more!
I think I must have repainted the sky about a half a dozen times until I settled on this colour!
This is acrylic on a 16" x 20" canvas panel.

Morning Sun on Spanish River

This is actually a real place this time. We have a camp on the Spanish River in Massey and the sun was beaming on the beach one day. I loved the photo so much that I thought I'd try to paint it. The part I liked the most about this painting was the reflection in the water on the other side of the river. Can you see the ripple of the beaver swimming?
This is acrylic on a 16" x 20" canvas panel.

Bluebird

This picture used some of the elements from a Jerry Yarnell show for the background developing and the post with the wire fencing. I changed the type of flowers used and did less lighting from the sun. I also used my own bird. Jerry's show used a house wren. I preferred a bluebird because I felt that it was more their habitat than a wren.
I was impressed with how the picture turned out and gave it to my Mother-in-Law as a gift.
This was acrylic on an 8" x 10" canvas panel.

Reflections of Cattails

I felt like cutting out on my own again. This is another imaginary place. I felt drawn to paint with yellows and blues.
It feels good to just create something from nothing!
This is acrylic on a 16" x 20" canvas panel.

Study Painting 2

This was also from the Jerry Yarnell show. I watched to show and then tried to do the picture from memory. I find it less frustrating than looking at a picture in a book and trying to figure out how he did it exactly. I want to have my own elements worked in too. I figure this will allow me to learn my own techniques and preferences as well.
This is acrylic on a 10" x 14" canvas panel.

Study Painting

This is a Jerry Yarnell, study painting I tried. I had some difficulty with the trees mountain and highlighting of clouds, but I'll keep on trying!
This one is also acrylic on a 16" x 20" canvas panel.

An Evening at the Cabin

This is a non-existant place, that I wish I had.
It is acrylic on an 8" x 10" canvas panel.
This was my first painting I've done since high school.
